Hi

Welcome to my neck of the web. This site is still a work in progress and exists mainly for my amusement and benefit but if you get some enjoyment out of it let me know. [email]

The important thing you need to know is that I have three spectacular children, an incredible son-in-law and a remarkable partner in my wife.

The less interesting minutia is that I’ve been involved with technology in one form or another since the early 70’s. I never planned it to be that way having started my schooling at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania as a Marketing major (which in those days had little to do with technology). However, through some twists and turns and an aptitude (although no real training) at writing code, I’ve been fortunate to be able to combine my technology skills with my business background and have achieved a modicum of success bridging the technology and business worlds. At least so I’m told.

The first 25 years of my career were spent in the financial software industry building applications around trust accounting, investment analytics and stock transfer management. In 1998, I joined a friend and his partner in a fledgling company called Marketspan where we built an application to obtain court documents. We created some pretty unique (at the time) neat applications for our clients who were mostly lawyers. We merged/sold our company in 2000 and the combined company was purchased by LexisNexis in the fall of 2001.

So, I currently find myself still here at LexisNexis in a unit called Courtlink in our Litigation Services division. Our product has grown and matured over time and is now a staple at most law firms and also at many other companies. I spend my time concocting new product ideas as well as trying to make myself useful in a number of other ways.

I have a number of interests which we don’t need to get into here but one of the things that I do for fun is to build websites for friends, family and worthwhile organizations. Some of these are listed over there

These sites are varied, but the common thread is that they all paid me the same fee (right!). But that’s fine since in each instance I’ve taken the opportunity to learn something new, whether it be Wordpress, Joomla, Ruby, PHP, Javascript, Ajax or another new (to me) technology. I seem to be able to learn new things better when I have something of substance to work on.

There are some photos scattered around the site and under Funny2Me or Interesting I’ll occasionally deposit some things as they strike my fancy.

Be well and be happy!

Marc
